Tips for Reporting your ASBrS CME to ABS

The American Board of Surgery (ABS) and the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) have collaborated to allow for electronic reporting of American Society of Breast Surgeons (ASBrS) learner completion data (CME and Self-Assessment credits) to the ABS, simplifying the CME credit reporting requirement for the ABS Continuous Certification Program. To ensure all ABS Diplomates can successfully report their ASBrS CME and Self-Assessment credits to ABS, we'd like to share a couple tips:

  1. Confirm that you have signed up for ABS Credit Reporting by logging in to your ASBrS account on our ASBrS-ABS Credit Reporting page. ASBrS cannot report your CME and Self-Assessment credits to ABS without this authorization. Note: ASBrS has permission to report CME and Self-Assessment credits to ABS only. We do not have permission to report credits to the American College of Surgeons (ACS).

  2. Check your Diplomate status with the ABS and confirm that the information on your ASBrS and ABS profiles match through the ABS Surgeon Portal. ASBrS cannot complete your CME and Self-Assessment credit reporting if the required profile information is missing or does not match (First Name, Last Name, Date of Birth) or if your Diplomate status does not allow credit reporting: Verifying Status.

Please secure all your required CME prior to the deadline on December 31 to ensure successful processing. CME reporting can take anywhere from 2–5 business days before the transfer is completed and the CME is reflected in the ABS diplomate’s profile. We strongly encourage our members to secure their CME in advance of December 31 to avoid any potential reporting delays. If you have any questions, contact cme@breastsurgeons.org.
