Breast Imaging CME Opportunities

The Society offers several options for earning the required CME for certification in Breast Ultrasound and Stereotactic Breast Procedures.

Annual Meeting Pre-Meeting & Other Courses

• Breast Ultrasound Introductory Course
  • 2019 Course – 7.25 Credits
  • 2022 Course – 7.25 Credits
  • 2023 Course – 7.5 Credits
• Cryotherapy – An Introductory Course for the Ultrasound-Experienced Surgeon
  • 2023 Course – 3.25 Credits
• 2023 Fellows Breast Ultrasound Course – 8.5 hours may be utilized to meet the all-day with hands-on educational component within the fellows certification track.

• Back to Basics Refresher: Practical Application of Breast Imaging

Annual Meeting General Session

The breast imaging content varies each year. The last several general sessions have included 2 to 3 hours of CME which may be counted toward the certification criteria for both certification programs.

Breast Education and Self Assessment - BESAP I, II & III

• BESAP I – 6 Credits
• BESAP II – 7 Credits

• BESAP for Fellows – 2 hours may be utlilized to meet the educational component criteria in the fellows certification track.

2020 Virtual Education Series

• Basic Breast Imaging for the Surgeon - 2 Credits
• Advanced Breast Imaging for the Surgeon – 2 Credits

Maintenance of Certification – Ultrasound and Stereotactic

• MOC CME requirements - 15 category 1 CME credits breast content.
  • Activities must be focused on breast, not required to be ultrasound or imaging specific

Selected Readings in Breast Surgery Program

Through the Society's Selected Readings program, participants are eligible to earn a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 CME Credit™ per article. To apply credit toward certification and recertification, the articles must include breast ultrasound or imaging content.
