Course Description:

Developing a Cancer Survivorship Program has been a journey for many breast centers over the last decade. In 2024, we expect the credentialling organizations to discontinue the requirement of these initiatives. Still in 2005, nearly 20 years ago, the Institute of Medicine described survivorship care plans as the critical element “Lost in Translation” as patients transition from cancer patient to cancer survivor. This course will describe the results of survivorship research and the impactful interventions that breast surgeons must know to best advocate for their patients.

Course Objectives:

At the conclusion of this course, participants should be able to:

  • To better understand the lifestyle interventions associated with improved survival and approaches to improved uptake.
  • To better understand optimal surveillance strategies for cancer survivors
  • To better understand optimal psychosocial resources in survivorship
  • To better understand how to incorporate lifestyle interventions in survivorship.

CME Credit Information:

The American Society of Breast Surgeons designates this live activity for a maximum of 5.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
