Welcome From the Program Chair

Jennifer S. Gass, MD

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of our society president, Susan K. Boolbol, MD, the Board of Directors, and the Annual Meeting Committee, I invite you to join us at the 25th Annual Meeting of The American Society of Breast Surgeons. Our 2024 meeting, including the pre-meeting program, will be held Wednesday, April 10, through Sunday, April 14, at the Orlando World Center Marriott in Orlando, Florida. We have an exciting program planned, so please save these dates on your calendar now!

General Session

I am delighted to announce that we will be welcoming as our keynote speaker David R. Gruen, MD, MBA, FACR. Dr. Gruen is the former Chief Medical Officer for Imaging at IBM Watson Health. As a practicing radiologist in Connecticut, he has developed an expertise in medical application of AI and informatics. As part of our emphasis on surgical innovation, the John Wayne Cancer Institute's Critical Issues in Breast Cancer Forum will feature personalized cancer care and de-escalation in 2024. The Hoag Health System Surgical Innovation Forum, supported by a grant from the Hoag Hospital, will highlight the Surgeon's role in breast cancer care innovation.

The program includes the spectrum of critical issues topics that we face as breast cancer care leaders. We will explore how to deliver high-value care in the current environment and feature presentations and discussions on de-escalation of therapy. Experts will review breast imaging controversies, cancer genetics, oncoplastic surgery and discuss axillary and lymphedema management. Our scientific committee has selected the oral presentations on the latest research and made selections for poster session. The great debates on breast surgery controversies are in preparation. Our annual “How I Do It” video session, featuring surgical tips and tricks, is also in the main program. You will also be able to see the latest technology in our Exhibit Hall and network with colleagues during breaks and social functions.

Pre-Meeting Courses

You will not want to miss out on the excellent pre-meeting courses on April 10 and April 11. Take advantage of these educational opportunities by registering for courses on one or both of these days.

We will once again feature cadaver lab courses on advanced axillary surgery as well as beginner and intermediate level oncoplastic surgery.
