Course Description:
This course is designed to help early and mid-career surgeons develop the skills needed to progress as an effective and engaging leader. We will discuss some options for career development in varying leadership roles (both clinical and non-clinical). We will then review skills that will be helpful in both obtaining and succeeding in healthcare leadership.
Course Objectives:
At the conclusion of this course, participants should be able to:
- Review the variety of leadership positions for available for surgeons
- Understand the strategies and skill sets needed for various types of leadership
- Develop a plan to advance to the next stages in leadership
- Recognize the help available to become a more effective leader
