The American Society of Breast Surgeons (ASBrS) recently released a position statement on screening mammography including new recommendations based on a patient’s individual breast cancer risk profile, with clear, specific strategies for screening management. 2019 ACS/ASBrS Health Policy Scholarship Winner Announced
Dr. Oluwadamilola Fayanju, of Chapel Hill, NC is the winner of this year's Health Policy and Management Scholarship. The annual scholarship is provided by the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Breast Surgeons, supporting the recipient’s attendance and participation in the Executive Leadership Program in Health Policy and Management at Brandeis University. The course will be held June 2-8, 2019. Congratulations, Dr. Fayanju!
2019 ACS/ASBrS International Scholarship Recipient Announced
Congratulations to our 2019 ACS/ASBrS International Scholarship Award recipient, Veronica Andino, MD of Ecuador. She will attend The American Society of Breast Surgeons (ASBrS) 20th Annual Meeting, April 30-May 5, 2019 in Dallas, TX and visit the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) headquarters in Chicago, IL, to learn about the standards for a breast cancer program/database and the importance of multidisciplinary breast cancer care.
The Society Releases New Breast Cancer Genetic Testing Guidelines
The American Society of Breast Surgeons (ASBrS) recently announced new genetic testing guidelines for hereditary breast cancer, calling for genetic testing to be available to all patients diagnosed with breast cancer. These new recommendations expand on common restrictions which recommend testing only for certain age groups and types of cancer.
