New Legislation Seeks to Restore Medicare Physician Payments
A bipartisan group of Representatives has introduced the Medicare Patient Access and Practice Stabilization Act, a crucial bill that ASBrS strongly supports. This legislation aims to reverse the 2.8% Medicare physician payment cut that took effect on January 1 and implement a 2.0% inflationary adjustment for the remainder of 2025.
By addressing these payment reductions, the bill would provide much-needed financial relief to surgeons and help preserve access to care for vulnerable Medicare beneficiaries. While not a permanent solution, this measure is an important step toward stabilizing private practices facing increasing financial strain.
